THE STUFF

OBASA Freight is a full-service "for hire" trucking and logistics company that operates throughout Canada and the continental United States. The company offers a fleet of impeccably maintained, late-model, air-ride equipment; advanced satellite tracking and communications; strong working relationships with an extensive network of reliable motor carriers throughout North America; and the latest information management systems available.

An enhanced administrative support team, including software, accounting, safety and compliance expertise, is provided by corporate staff in Saskatoon. All dispatch and accounting transactions are recorded using specialized trucking software. The software is implemented in a terminal server environment that allows for remote access by all staff. Redundant off-site backups of all data are performed on a daily basis.


THE SOLUTION

To capitalize on the increasingly complex challenge of putting product in front of a customer, OBASA Freight is positioning itself as one of western Canada’s premier full-service, third-party logistics providers offering supply chain management integration. With the purchase of the 147,000 square foot warehouse located at 501 High Street West in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.

OBASA Freight can offer you a single source solution for transportation, distribution, cross-docking, and load consolidation.

By providing a centrally located cross-docking and freight consolidation facility, Canada-bound freight from the US can be unloaded to permit the higher-priced US-approved drivers and equipment to quickly return to the US for additional freight. Furthermore, the unloaded freight can be re-loaded on less expensive Canada-only equipment to take advantage of the economies of scale arising from routing the freight based on factors such as a common delivery location and/or scheduled delivery date.


THE FACILITY

OBASA Freight's warehouse feature pre-engineered insulated metal construction, a paved and fenced compound for truck and trailer parking, modern material handling equipment, advanced fire suppression systems, and central alarm monitoring to guarantee product integrity twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. This state-of-the-art distribution centre will allow OBASA Freight to provide basic warehouse services or temperature controlled accommodations.


THE PEOPLE

Today OBASA Freight employs:

  • A Division Manager;
  • 2 full-time Dispatchers;
  • A Dispatch Clerk;
  • An Assistant Controller;
  • 2 Mechanics;
  • Company Drivers; and
  • Leased Operators

OBASA Freight operates its own full-service maintenance facilities, headed by a Fleet Maintenance Manager who is factory trained and was the head mechanic for the local Freightliner dealership. The shop is capable of performing all commercial truck and trailer servicing, maintenance and mechanical work.

The dedication and professionalism in which we manage our shop has earned us the recognition of the Saskatchewan Government Future Skills program. This commitment to training means a higher quality of service is delivered to our customers.

THE MAN

Mr. Doell is currently the owner and CEO of Paradigm Holdings Inc., OBASA Corporate Suites Inc. and OBASA Freight Connections Ltd., referred to as the OBASA Group of Companies.

Paradigm Holdings specializes in residential condominium development, sales and conversion and has seen tremendous success with project marketing based on qualified in-house marketing and strategic partners.

Projects to his credit are as follows:

  • Designed and built the First Nations Child Development Center on 5th Avenue in Saskatoon.
  • The Pinnacle was a 12-storey 64-unit apartment building located at 717 Victoria Avenue that had been idle on the market for two years after final development. Gordon saw the potential, purchased the balance at auction, and sold it within 4 months for a 27% profit.
  • Hallmark Place on 6th Avenue in Saskatoon was a $19 million project in which this 27-storey, 206-unit apartment building was refurbished and converted to condominiums. This project sold out in 24 months.
  • OBASA Suites is the largest Corporate Housing accommodation provider in western Canada, serving Regina and Saskatoon in Saskatchewan.
  • The Hamilton on Hamilton Street in Regina was a $12.4 million project in which this 12-storey commercial high-rise (formerly the CIBC Bank Building) was converted to a 72-unit residential condominium. Commercial tenants include Immigration Canada and the City of Regina Downtown Business Improvement District. As with Hallmark Place, this project sold out in 24 months.
  • River's Edge Residences located on Assiniboine Drive in Saskatoon was a $1.7 million project in which this 3-storey walk-up apartment building was refurbished and converted to condominiums. This project sold out in 4½ months.
  • Rumely Distinctive Lofts conversion project currently underway (2007), in Saskatoon's historic warehouse district.
  • OBASA maintains numerous commercial buildings in Saskatoon and Regina with AA and AAA tenants, including federal, provincial and municipal government clients.
